Auricerise

Welcome! I'm Auri or Cerise.Auricerise is a combination of the words 'auric' (meaning a trivalent bond of gold and I tend to like designing my characters with gold accents) and 'cerise' (meaning cherry in French and a colour I enjoy). Combine them together and you get 'auricerise' which can be used to describe the physalis plant, which I think is one of the coolest looking plants there is and tasty when it's ripe.

Auri | Female | Semi-casual artist
Original and fan art in digital and traditional media; I experiment a lot with my work. Also an adult who watches anime and plays video games on her spare time whilst my work is inspired by the mentioned (but not limited to) as well!
Art status: Currently on hiatus (rebuilding portfolio and backlogging).

F.A.Q

LAST UPDATED: 11/12/20211. Q: Do you take art requests / art trades / collaborations / commissions?A: You can always check my art status located on Home, but guarantee that art requests are always a no with art trades for friends only.2. Q: Can I use your art/repost your art?
A: You may do so as long as you link back to my social media. Please refer to the Art Usage Policy for more details if you are unfamiliar with doing so/some areas are not permitted.
3. Q: What programs do you use for your art?A: FireAlpaca and CLIP STUDIO PAINT. I generally stick with FireAlpaca for quick sketching because I like their lag free functionality and UI. CSP is used to lay down my flats and CGing if I'm doing painterly work.4. Q: What drawing tablet do you use?A: Wacom Intuos Pro 4 Medium (2016-2021), XP-Pen Artist Pro 15.6 (2021-present).5. Q: What mediums do you use for your traditional work?A: A large variety, but these are the most common drawing tools I use…

  • 0.5 + 0.7 mm mechanical pencil

  • Plastic eraser (Staedtler)

  • Alcohol markers (Copic, TOUCHFIVE, MINISO, Ohuhu, Prismacolor, Adaxi)

  • Coloured pencils/Pencil crayons (Laurentien - DISCONTINUED, Crayola, Prismacolor)

  • Waterproof fineliners (Sakura Microns + Tombow Fudenosuke)

  • Gel pens (Sakura Gelly Roll)

  • Fineliners (multiple brands)

  • Waterbased markers (Lyra Aqua Brush duo + Tombow Brush Pens + Crayola Markers); I typically incorporate these into my watercolour paintings

  • Watercolour + Gouache paints (Reeves + Club House Food colouring)

  • Calligraphy ink + nibs (Speedball + Tachikawa)

  • Card stock, cover stock, and watercolour paper

6. Q: When did you start drawing? How do you draw so well?!A: I’ve always been consistently drawing since I was a young girl. Experimenting, patience, and practice is key in expanding my skills in art.7. Q: Can you teach me how to draw/do art?A: If you’re curious about something really specific I did (E.g. How did I colour this painting), I’d be happy to explain/share my process. But it’s a no to straight up lessons (E.g. How to draw the human body, how to use your tablet); I have my personal obligations and priorities. My advice to you is start picking up a pencil and draw often. Do not worry so much about how perfect your art needs to be for every single piece you do because that's unrealistic. If you aren’t happy with an art piece you did, make it up by doing more and always work at your own pace to avoid burn out. You’ll improve simply by doing and observing, and you’ll learn the basic rules along the way. There are tons of online tutorials and resources out there to add to your knowledge — if there’s something specific you want, just search it up by Googling and/or YouTubing. Join an online community suitable to your area of interest, follow and support artists, watch and join in on art streams hosted by them on platforms like Twitch. If there’s a resource that doesn’t suit your needs, move onto the next one.I created an art resource directory over at my Wordpress that you can check out here -- I have marked beginner resources accordingly.8. Q: Do you do live art streams?
A: No, I can’t bother myself to host them.
9. Q: Do you have plans on creating a web comic out of your characters?A: Unfortunately no, for a multitude of reasons:♦ I have way too many characters let alone multiple time eras involving complex plots for each of them (think about your standard JRPG video game length in story).
♦ My creative writing skills are mediocre, I'm more of an academic writer.
♦ I would rather focus in on creating individual artworks, especially since I don't have the time in general even just for one story -- that's just on making the art for it alone and not taking planning into account.
So, I would rather not start up on a story, leave it hanging for months or even years, and completely forget where I want to go with it. Thanks for your interest though!10. Q: Do you have a Ko-fi? I would love to donate to you!A: I do, but it is currently not in use. Once I finish rebuilding my portfolio, I will officially open up for donations/small commissions. Thank you for your interest and thoughts. 😊

Art Usage Policy

You may repost/use my artwork somewhere else on the web/personal use without asking me. Please check over the Terms and Conditions before doing so, since there are certain areas I do not permit. For credit formatting, it is straightforward for those of you familiar with using/reposting artist work.
-------------------------------------------------
UPDATED AS OF: 10/2/2023
📃 Terms & Conditions⭐My work is under the Creative Commons License, so basically don’t make money off of my stuff/plagiarise/you credit me back with a URL.You agree to link back to any of my social media (see the below for Credit formatting), even if watermarking is present.⭐🚫 Do not repost on the following sites: Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, Pixiv, Toyhouse**
The only exception to this is if I personally drew something for you (commission or not) and you want to give the artwork an extra shoutout, but I still require to be tagged/linked back.
E.g. Hey Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr/Toyhouse, @auricerise drew my OC!
- Tumblr/Twitter/Tumblr: Please reblog/retweet the originals from my corresponding accounts if you use those websites!
- Other exceptional conditions for Twitter: If you want to participate in an art raffle and the hoster requires reference pictures of your original/fan original characters, you do not have to link back/tag me (though appreciated if you do so anyway!) when you are dropping media onto their thread. I only ask that you leave my signature on there for credit. This is the ONLY exception to the link/tag back rule. Characters belonging to other franchises (E.g. Princess Peach from Super Mario) are not permitted and will be required for link backs/tagging if participating in such threads.
- Exceptional conditions for Instagram: I will allow reposts on Instagram depending on how your account operates (please ask first unless I explicitly state your account is allowed to do so in my description). If permission is granted, please mention @auricerise in your repost! Story shares are totally cool too.
In terms of collaborative and commissioned work (which will be labeled as such):**
- Collaborations: Please ask the other artist(s) if it’s okay with them to use our piece we worked on together. I'm okay with it as long as credit and link backs are due, but if the other artist(s) says no, respect their wishes and do not use the work.
- 🚫 Commissions: You may not repost commissioned work nor use them. Only the commissioner has the rights to use the work.
- It is your responsibility to contact any involved parties, not through me. If the other party is inactive and/or you have no way of contacting them, it's a no.I reserve the right to have my art removed from you for any reason.Terms & Conditions can change at anytime.📃 Credit formatting

Please use comments as a last resort if providing a description upon submission is not an option.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!⚠️DISCLAIMER: If someone used/reposted my work following all proper credit, I take no part in whatever business or fandoms they have in. This also applies to any attached commentary made by the user; descriptions written by me will always be through my own posts.

Terms of Service

LAST UPDATED: 06/7/2020• Commissions are for non-commercial and personal use only. Commercial work will not be available during this time.
Example: Do not turn the artwork into a book cover, reprint, and sell it.
• I retain all rights in producing and owning the image including posting artwork online on my social media accounts (watermarked due to it being paid for) for portfolio purposes. If you wish to remain nameless, please notify me and I will label the description as private commissioner.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any intellectual properties in any commissioned work (E.g. Mario belongs to Nintendo).
• You may post the image online without watermarking on your social media accounts at your own discretion, but please link back to or tag me.• I reserve the right to refuse a commission for any reason.• Terms & Conditions are subject to change at anytime according to the LAST UPDATED date and clients will be notified when appropriate (E.g. I added an additional item to Things I won’t do under Content compatibility)
-------------------------------------------------
✅ Things I’ll do:
Humans (doesn't matter what gender); can also add extra features to them such as animal ears and tail.
Anything else
* Please note that I primarily draw humans in my work and that I cannot guarantee how non-human subjects will turn out.*🚫 Things I won’t do:
- NSFW including questionable, morally unacceptable, and/or controversial content.
- Anthros with no outfits even if SFW
- Imitating other art styles
- Buildings
- Anything else I may be uncomfortable with
-------------------------------------------------
What you will receive from me
• A high resolution of your art order in PNG formatting with no watermarking.
• A transparent background of your character will be provided when applicable.
• Please allow up to 2-4 weeks for your commission to be completed, depending on the complication of your order and/or unforeseen circumstances. I am happy to provide updates, but please note I have a demanding day job that often does not leave me very much personal time.
-------------------------------------------------
Payment
For U.S Customers: I am unable to accept Paypal due to changes in Paypal's policy changes. Please see the following chart below for your options in paying me.• For giftcard payments, please take note that paying through this method requires you to select the correct region (Canada) and is non-refundable.
To ensure that you are sending in the correct codes and that I am able to receive them, I strongly recommend paying in smaller increments (E.g. <$30) rather than in bulk.
• All prices are in USD, Paypal will automatically convert your country's currency to the stated. I will send an invoice to you of the price.
• Extra charges may be added depending on the nature of your order; expect a range of $5-$20.
Examples: Fine details (think Final Fantasy XIV), props, special effects.
• Please note it is an automatic extra $2 (for chibi)/$5 (for non-chibi) if you want a FULL character cast.
• Payment is upfront through Paypal before I will start sketching.
• Optional: If you are not comfortable paying for full CGed work right upfront, you can pay the full sketch price first. If you wish to proceed into the CGing stages (line art and colour rendering) after that, please pay upfront with the remainder for what I would charge.
E.g. Full body CG costs $80; you pay $20 for the sketch first. If you’re comfortable to proceed, you pay upfront with the remaining $60 balance before I continue with the work.
• Refunds will not be available once the artwork is fully rendered. Partial refunds are available if I have not started on the next stage of the artwork (E.g. The line art is finished, I send it to you before I start colouring, and you say you don’t want this order anymore and want a refund).
-------------------------------------------------
Communication
• Please allow 1-3 days for me to reply to your messages, as I have multiple social media accounts and emails separate from my online and real-life usage. If something does pop up, I will do the best as I can to update you.
• I provide frequent updates through my CGing process, please don’t mind getting a ton of notifications from me when I send process images.
• I will be asking you for your approval before I start proceeding into certain stages of the artwork such as starting the line art from a sketch you are satisfied with, so please be sure to be prompt with your replies as well.
-------------------------------------------------
My expectations from you
• Visual references + Information about your subject (E.g. Is there an expression that you want? What gender are they?). Please provide clear image sources as much as you are able to: A stick figure drawing in MS Paint can even help with wanting a certain pose!
If you do not provide visual references sufficient enough in information for an OC/fandom OC and you just provide a description, additional charges will be applied for the reason of designing your character from scratch.
• Please make sure all presented material is mostly SFW.
• Patience; If you ever are curious about the process, please don't be afraid to ask!
• Be honest! If you are not happy with how a sketch turned out from your description, please let me know. Be specific and firm about what you want.
• You share the responsibility to notify me if there is a mistake you spot in the artwork (E.g. I forgot to add a dragon to a character’s outfit) BEFORE I fully render the work.
-------------------------------------------------
The Process: How it will work
1. Form submission received containing all of the necessary information from you (Name/alias, best way to contact you, a description of what you want, and provide visual references).
I will contact you providing you the payment price to pay for AND which email address to send your payment to.
2. Appropriate payment received. Sketch process starts according to client’s description.
You can always check how your commission is faring at Trello here.
This will give you an idea of the workload I am at with other client commissions.
3. Sketch is completed and sent to the client for approval. If client is satisfied with the provided sketch(es), I will start the line art. If the client is not satisfied, they must notify me the desired changes.4. Line art is completed and sent to client. (Sent as update)5. Flat colours are in and sent to client. (Sent as additional update)
Some changes and last-minute additions are allowed (E.g. Thickening the lines, adding/removing small items such as earrings, changing the colour of the hair).
6. The fully rendered, high resolution artwork is sent to the client. No further changes are allowed at this point. Client may request resizing (to smaller scale) and cropping free of charge. If you are interested in a commission from me and read all of the above, please order through this form!
